MUSIC VIDEO - FIRST DRAFT

Music video from naomipalfreman36

Here is a deconstruction of the shots we took during our first two days filming for our music video. I have evaluated some of the clips to asses their validity to be used throughout our music video. It is important that I ensure that all footage is of a high standard, demonstrating both camera and editing skills, as well as being corformative to both the song and genre of music- ours being indie pop.
Here I have gathered audience feedback on my album cover. This is useful in aiding me to know what features I should change, and what features should stay the same.

From this feedback, i have established that the album cover is visually pleasing and of a high standard that appeals to my target audience.

Here is a screenshot of a post I added to my social media site Facebook. In this post I asked my friend list to give me any useful feedback from my product. This is a good way to gain audience feedback, as not only does it enable me to gain feedback from a wide variety of people, whom are on my friends list, but it also allows me to get feedback from our target audience age range as a lot of teenagers between the ages 15-18 years are frequent users of these sites and therefore will be witness to this post giving us the most profitably feedback possible.

Contact sheet analysis deisgn from naomipalfreman36

Here is the contact sheet produced in preparation for choosing the images for our album cover. This is important as I need to ensure that the image I take forward for this product is firstly conformative of the Indie pop genre, but also conventions to typical inclusions on other successful media products,

For each image I have given a analysis of both the positive and negative aspects of it, to ensure that the best image is chosen to represent my product.

Here is a copy of an email I received from my teacher, giving me feedback on my magazine advertisement. This really aided me in ensuring that all the necessary conventions were present.

Based on this feedback, and other positive feedback from the rest of my customer feedback, I have established that my product is successful and professional and therefore ready to be branded in this way.
CUSTOMER FEEDBACK ON MAGAZINE ADVERTISEMENT:

Sarah " I really like this product. I love the idea of having the album cover on the top half as I feel this strengthens the overall brand and enables me personally to link the two products (album cover and this) together which is really good. I also like the tear effect separating the album cover from the main image, as this fits with the rebellious nature of youths/cool kids which fits with your song.

Jana " This whole design is really good. I love the colour scheme used, and it is the same that was used for your album cover which is really good and keeps all your products in sync. I think you could maybe extend the space for the middle text, however other than that I think it is overall a fabulous product and I would be attracted to it"

Nancy " This whole product is great. I love the use of your logo on the background section it the information, as i feel this strengthens your brand. I also really like the inclusion of the tear effect, as this is rebellious which fits with your song. You could possibly make the tear effect thicker to make it even more noticeable. Other than that I think its a really good product.

Aziza " This overall product is so so great. I love the consistency of the two products (album cover and magazine advertisement) and i like the fact that the album cover is at the top of the page and reappears at the bottom of the page, leading to consistency. I love the colour scheme used, especially because the bright red resembles free spiritness and stuff which is closely linked to your indie pop genre. Overall this is such a great product and I personally think its very confoamtive of other magazine advertisements on today's market at the moment.
FINAL MUSIC MAGAZINE ADVERTISEMENT:

Powered by emaze

In this presentation I have outlined the steps and processes I went through in order to produce my final magazine music advertisement. This is important, both so that I can identify the skills I have learned throughout the process, but to also ensure that my inclusion of certain conventions is both conformative of my indie pop genre and target audience preferences.

The final slide includes pictures of my final product, along with customer feedback from people conformative of my target audience. This will aid me in making any appropriate changes to my product and when it comes to evaluating its success.

Typography and logo for ninth outcast from naomipalfreman36

The typography for my magazine advertisement is the same as that for my Album cover.
To produce this I used a black sharpie marker pen, on A3 poster paper, to get the achieved look. It was tricky because I had to ensure that all my typography looked the same, and was In synch with the typography used in my album cover, so that all products are corresponding.

Here is the typography that I produced using the black sharpie marker pen. The typography I included was conformative of the indie pop genre, as it resembled youth handwriting, further emphasising my target audience as well as the rebellious nature of the indie pop genre.

In addition this text is the same as the text included on my album cover, even though I wrote them on different days. This is very important as it ensures that my products, all look the same and fit together.
The information included in the typography is conformative of the typical conventions of magazine album cover, for example, tour dates is a common feature of all magazine advertisements. This will make my product look more realistic and professional further strengthening my overall product.

Magazine flat from naomipalfreman36

Here I have produced four flat plans, all designed as an aid in me deciding my preferred layout for my magazine advertisement. From these flat plans I have asked people conformatiove of my target audience to look at them and tell me which one they feel would be most effective representing my product, along side my chosen image. This is taking into account that my chosen image is the same one as the one demonstrated on my album cover.

When i come to producing my album cover, i can refer back to these flat plans to aid me in ensuring that all the necessary features and conventions are present on my magazine advertisement to ensure it is successful and appealing for my target audience.

After referring to my target audience feedback I have decided that the image of which i will use for my magazine advertisement is this one. However this means it is the same as the one I used for my album cover, leading me to question the inclusion of the album cover as a feature of my magazine advertisement to further the sync of my products.
CONTACT SHEET- MAGAZINE IMAGES

Here is a shortlisted selection of the pictures we took during our photo shoot for our magazine advertisement. It is these images of which i selected as my favorites to put forward to represent my magazine advertimsnet. This is because not only do they have the same models as my album cover, ensuring all my products are in sync but they also are of a high professional standard, ensuring that they will be appealing to my target audience.

CUSTOMER FEEDBACK:
Customer one " I really like these images, my favorite one is the second image, as i feel this is most professional and has the full attention of all models. For example the third image is good, but one of your models is not looking at the camera which can be distracting and make your product look less professional. For this reason i would suggest possibly using the second image."
Customer Two" These images are really great. My favorites are image two and image four, This is because i feel they look most professional and i like the fact that in the last fourth image the model is smiling, as this gives it a softer look. I dont like the first image, as i feel the models look distracted and exhibit a lack of connection which isn't very professional."
Customer three " All these images are great, however if i were to pick one i would say number two as the first image, i feel the costume code of the female model is not quite right, and therefore may not be appealing to your target audience. In addition the second image has all band members Incorporated which strengthens to quality of the image and makes the band more appealing to your target audience.
Customer four" I lobe all these images, however my favorite would be number two, followed by number four. This is because i feel they look the most professional and Representative of other products on the market. For example, the fourth image is a slight close up[ which i like as this engages the audience further, however i feel as though the fact that the model is smiling makes the image lack professionalism, and looks more candid, For this reason i would suggest going for number two as i feel as though this is the most professional looking product and is of the highest possible standard."

Here I have clarified the location in which I will shoot pictures to include on my second product, being the magazine advertisement.

I have also edited this prezi since then, and included the pictures taken during the day shooting pictures for my magazine advertisement, here I can visually establish the best picture to take forward to use for my magazine advertisement, one offering the best most professional appearance.

Here I have constructed a contact sheet, of which is a deconstruction of the shot types we are aiming to capture to include in our music video. This is important as when creating our video, it is important that references can be made to this to ensure that all shots we capture have a meaning and are conformative of our Indie pop genre, as well as insuring that the shots we capture will be useful both as main and intermediate shots in our music video construction.

I have described, the shot types present in each shot capture, to ensure that correct focal changes are made, as well as lens changes which may be necessary, for example with an extreme close up shot. It will also help when deciding whether to change the camera setting to auto focus or manual focus.

Tuesday 26 April 2016

This is an important video, for our music video planning, as due to the nature of our song of which focuses on Identity and fitting in with the 'cool kids', we decided that a key feature of our music video would be the inclusion of close up shots/mug shots, as these demonstrated in the opening of orange is the new black. Obviously we shall make slight adjustments to our own version of these close up shots, for example, focusing more specifically on eyes, as well as a younger demographic. We also aim to add a blur in our close up shots, to enable steady and crisp movement between shots.

However, watching this video is important as it enables us to see a movement of which will hope to include in our own product, and therefore can be closely referenced to throughout our production process.

Made with Storyboard That

Here we have created a storyboard, listing the possible shots we aim to include in our music video. This is important, as we will be able to reference this when we come to producing our actual music video.

It is important that we have a selection of shots we aim to include in our music video, as therefore we can ensure that when we are filming, we can use maximum time capturing shots that are both conformative of our indie pop genre, and will be used during our music video.

COMMUNICATION BETWEEN GROUP MEMBERS:

When producing products of this standard collectively it is important that communication between group members and participants is of a good standard, this is because especially when producing the music video, there is a strong need for location and prop clarification and insurance to ensure that everything goes to plan.

One way in which Julianna and I communicated was through 'Whatsapp' messenger. This was a useful way of communication as it is free to use and easy to attach photos to messages, which means especially when deciding on locations etc we could visually show each other what our ideas were.

In addition, we created a whatsapp group, called 'Media Project' which allowed us to include our models (Savas, Jasmine and Luka) in it, o that we could collaboratively decide on a date that worked for all of us. This again was useful, as it saved time having to message everyone individually. One problem with Whatsapp is that access to the internet or data is crucial, which meant that when we were out and about not everyone had aces to the group chat.

We also gathered all our models email addresses, as this ensured that we could send out more formal group emails to inform all our group members of photo shoot days etc. This is good as all group members can be included, and with access to computers at school, it is easy to send messages throughout the day.

Myself and Julianna also used snapchat to send pictures o our individual album covers and magazine advertisements to each other, which allowed us to visually compare our improvements and products.

Changes made to album cover from naomipalfreman36

Here I have outlined some of the changes of which I made to my album cover, after gaining constructive criticism and improvements from my target audience. With these changes I hope that my album cover, looks further conformative of the Indie pop genre and looks more interesting and appealing leading to an overall increase in ultimate success.

Wednesday 20 April 2016

Here I have demonstrated my album cover of which I produced to represent, the band 'Ninth outcast' alongside the single 'Cool kids' I produced this using abode Photoshop (see construction)

From here I will ask people of my target audience to give me feedback on their opinions and views to ensure that my product is appealing for them. Any changes made after reviewing the target audience feedback will be demonstrated separately.

Here, I have created a detailed construction of the steps involved in producing my final album cover. I have outlined the software and tools used, as well as references made to audience feedback when it came to making changes or choosing specific conventions to include in my product.

Powered by emaze

It is important to be aware of using the right software in which to base and produce our products around. For this reason, I here have analysed the use of Photoshop as the software of which I will use when creating the imaged based products (being the album cover and magazine advertisement).

In this presentation I have identified the tools and effects included within this software that will enable me to make my products look of the ultimate standard and conform to the Indie pop genre of which my products are based around. For this reason, i can further ensure that i have chosen the right software which will ensure that my products will turn out of the highest possible standard and will therefore attract my target audience as well as compete with existing products.
Create your own user feedback survey

In preparation for my production process of the album cover, I created a questionnaire suing 'Survey Monkey' to establish what people conformative of my target audience felt was the most appropriate colour scheme to exhibited on my product. This ensures that all members of my target audience will be attracted to my album cover and magazine advertisement, as they will identify the colour scheme with their chosen genre.

Here I have attached a Video I found on YouTube of which I aim to refer to as an aid when it comes to editing my pictures/images using abode Photoshop for both my magazine advertisement and album cover. It is important that I use the best use of the Web 2.0, as this is a tool of which enables me to learn quickly and easily especially useful when working to a deadline. In addition to this, the software Photoshop is one largely used by professional publishing and design companies and therefore training myself in this field of expertise will enhance the quality of my products and make them appear more cofnormative of the exsising indie pop genre products on the market today.
IMPORTANCE OF A CALL SHEET:

Below is a call sheet of which I made in preparation for our day shooting for our music video, of which took place on the 7th April 2016.
It is important to make a call sheet because it enables both cast members and members and Julianna and I to be aware of the logistics and necessary arrangements needed to ensure that our day shooting is productive and useful in achieving our aims of gathering all the necessary footage.

It is especially important as our models cannot devote all their time to our project and also with deadlines fast approaching it is important that the days we use filming make the most appropraite use of our time.
The elements included on the call sheet are:
  1.  Cast members
  2. Schedule for the day/location arrangements/timings/breaks
  3. Contact details
  4. Weather forecast
All the above identifications, are things that must be iinm place to ensure maximum success of our day filming. A copy of the cover sheet will be emailed to all our cast members to ensure that they too are aware of the organisations of the day.

Final image analysis shot from naomipalfreman36

After gathering audience feedback from people who were conformative of my target audience, I was able to select the image of which I will use for my album cover.

To ensure that, despite audience feedback, my image was conformative of the Indie-Pop genre, and also of a high standard of which would appeal to my target audience, I have analysed my chosen image, taken into account the typical conventions of current album cover images, and highlighting ways in which my image has challenged or conformed to these conventions.

This image is taken before the editing process has begun, and therefore must be viewed upon with the expectation that certain changes will be made before it is actually applied to my album cover. The software of which I will use to create my album cover, is Abode Photoshop, a platform of which will enable me to make appropriate alterations to further improve the quality and professionalism of the image.

The image was taken with a SLR camera, of which is a piece of equipment often used in professional photo-shoots. For this reason, I feel it partly responsible for the high quality results of which I have achieved with this image, and the quality of which contributes to this image being of a professional appearance.

After gathering target audience feedback from peers of which analysed my images, I concluded that this was the best image to choose for my final album cover product.

It is importnat that I take on board customer audience feedback from people of whom are confomative of my target audience age and gender, as this ensures that the Image that I select to use for my products, in the case of the album cover, this image, will attract my target adueince therefore leading to further sucess of my overall product.

This image is also conformative of the genre of Indie pop which is important as all three of my products must reflect this genre, to ensure that there is synch between them and to also ensure that this band shown on my album cover can also be linked to the band dispalyed in both my music video and magazine advertisement.

Here I have visually represented the pictures of which we took on the first day shooting images for our magazine and album cover. This is important that I can visually represent these as it enables me to choose which image is most apprporaite to be used for my products and further enables me to have various platforms of which i can gain target audience research from. Here I will request audience feedback to ensure that the images I choose are appealing to my target audience. The chosen images can be selected and taken on further to the editing process of which the things such as equipment present in the shot will be taken away, so that my images look of a prrofessional standard.

Mood board mag advertimsent from naomipalfreman36

Here I have created a mood board of all the current magazine advertisements available on the market today. This is important as i must refresh my memory of both the typical conventions and necessary features, to ensure that both my flat-plans and actual production process reflect these positive features, to ensure maximum success of my overall product.

The moodbaord is useful in being a visual representation tool, enabling me to acknowledge how members of my target audience would see my product and what features are paticualry appealing in comparison to others- to ensure I can use these in my own product.

Friday 15 April 2016

Here is a copy of the email in which we sent to our models (Jasmine, Savas and Luka) a week prior to our shooting day. It is really important that we sent them all the adequate information, so that they were fully aware of where they needed to be, at what time, with props and in a particular location- this is a major part of project planning, as without this being established and communication between our models and us, the plans would be disturbed and we could let people down and go off schedule.

It is also important that we sent this a week in advance, to ensure that we gave our models enough notice, to let us know if they cannot make the particular date, and therefore we can rearrange.

Typography and logo for ninth outcast from naomipalfreman36

Here I have analysed and discussed the process of which I went to in producing my typography for my media products. I have included images and pictures of which show the process I went to when it comes to producing my album cover and magazine advertisement.

I have also gathered audience feedback, as  a means of ensuring that the text/typography appeals to my target audience, because this ensures that if they saw my product in a supermarket they would be attracted to buying it, increasing the overall success of my product. In addition to this, in this way my typography- therefore also my product, must be conformative/representative of the indie pop genre, because this is the genre of which my chosen target audience will be attracted to and will also ensure that my products such as the album cover and magazine advertisement are conformative to my song choice.

Thursday 7 April 2016

Here i have both visually and textually presented the characters we will include in our three products. These characters have been selected because we feel they are all conformative of the Indie pop genre, and would look representative with the correct accompanied iconography and mise-en-sence, furthermore they will work well together, as they are all of a similar stature and physique as well as ethnic origin. This enables us to ensure that our target audience of whom are drawn to the Indie pop genre, can identify with these characters and will be more entitled and persuaded to buy/listen to our products. Visually, we refereed back to the band members of 'Echosmith' of whom wrote and sang the song 'Cool Kids' as they are representative of the Indie pop genre. In addition, all these models/characters are the same school year and age as us, enabling us to mutually arrange times to film and produce our products.

Shot type ideas from naomipalfreman36

Here I have created a deatiled mood board  which is a deconstruction of the shot types I aim to include in my music video. I have produced the mood board which references to time in seconds, so that I am aware of the order of shots I aim to include. When we come to filming, we can use this as a guide to ensure we capture all the shots needed. I have analysed each shot, which references to the message it transmits to our audience and how it will attract our target audience.
